Niche Fire Type Pokemon
Fire-types give up a lot on defense. Water, Ground, and Rock hit them for double damage, so the niche ones are usually weather setters, slow walls, or one-trick attackers. These ten sit outside the starter lines.
Why a fire type goes niche
Pokemon Database’s type chart gives Fire a double weakness to Water, Ground, and Rock, and a resistance to Fire, Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel, and Fairy. I am using that chart as one source for the defensive story. The species notes below were checked on Pokemon Database and Serebii.
Torkoal sets sun with Drought and is slow, so the ability is the job. Magcargo is Fire/Rock with a 430 total and 30 Speed, and it takes quadruple damage from Water and Ground. Camerupt is Fire/Ground; Mega Camerupt’s ability is Sheer Force. Heatmor pairs with Durant in the dex text and carries Flash Fire or Gluttony. Turtonator is Fire/Dragon with Shell Armor, and Shell Trap answers a physical hit.
Salazzle is Poison/Fire, and Corrosion lets it poison Steel and Poison types. Chandelure is Ghost/Fire with 145 Special Attack, and Infiltrator passes Substitute. Talonflame is Fire/Flying; Gale Wings gives Flying moves priority at full HP. Oricorio’s Baile form is Fire/Flying, and Dancer copies a dance move. Scovillain is the Grass/Fire combination, with Chlorophyll, Insomnia, or Moody. The full fire rows are also in the niche pokemon list.

FAQ
What is the most niche fire type Pokemon?
Among the ten on this page, Magcargo and Torkoal are the ones whose job is most obviously narrow: a 30 Speed Fire/Rock, and a slow sun setter. That is a reading of the stats, not a usage rank.
Are starter fire types included?
No. Torchic and the other fire starters are on the niche starter page. This page is the non-starter examples.
