Niche Pokemon Games

The niche Pokemon games are the ones that leave the gym-and-league loop: photography, pinball, card battles, mystery dungeons, tactical RPGs, fighting games, team battles, and sleep tracking. This page lists 22, split into official spin-offs and community projects.

Official spin-offs

Bulbapedia’s spin-off list is the backbone for the official rows. Snap is 1999 on Nintendo 64. Pinball is 1999 on Game Boy Color. The Game Boy card game is 1998. Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue are 2005. Ranger is 2006 on DS. Conquest is 2012 on DS. Pokkén is 2015 in arcades and 2016 on Wii U. Quest is 2018. Café ReMix is 2020. New Snap is 2021. UNITE is 2021. Sleep is 2023. Pokopia is a Nintendo Switch 2 game released worldwide on 5 March 2026. Nintendo’s own release says 2.2 million copies shipped in the first four days. That sales line is one source, the corporate release, and I am not pairing it with a second sales tracker.

Playable official games start from the Pokemon video games catalog. This page does not host downloads.

Community projects, named carefully

Uranium’s own about page dates that project to 2016. Unbound and Radical Red are dated 2020 on Lutris and on Beyond Kanto. Infinite Fusion is dated 2015 on those same two sites. Prism is the 2016 project that was cancelled, reported by Vice and DualShockers. Gaia is 2018 from Beyond Kanto only, so that year is one source. Polished Crystal and Lazarus are 2025 from Beyond Kanto only. Emerald Rogue has no year I could confirm, so the year cell stays empty.

Four other projects were dropped from this table because a year or a second page was missing. I would rather omit them than invent a date. Community projects are not sold by Nintendo. This page does not link patched files or ROMs. The official catalog button in the header is the place to buy a published game.

FAQ

What are niche Pokemon games?

Spin-offs and small projects that are not the standard gym-and-league adventure. Snap, Mystery Dungeon, Pokkén, and Sleep are the official examples I would name first.

Where can I download a ROM hack?

Not from this site. The table names projects and years that have a public page. It does not host files.
